THE GRAND SUMMER SUMMARY OF ’25

Right,

since May 2025 I have not been up to date or active with my blog so instead of trying to remember the accumulation of memories and activities and put them into their own month, I’m going to summarise it on one big summary on this page in no particular order while following some loose order. Here it goes…

So, I finished college early which meant I had an extra month and a half of summer to burn (amazing). I ended up getting a distinction for my first year too, found that out on Shirley Camp, so very plead about that. Ummm, between that and camp I worked at the pier on weekends and some weekdays. Oh, I bought my FIRST guitar with my OWN earthly bucks too, it’s a Gretsch Streamliner G2420T in cherry red and looks stunning. I got it half the new price and all I had to do was polish and re-string it and now it looks as if I got it new.

I worked at Zebra too but after the finance manager quit they preferred me leave for the time being while they cleared things up (I haven’t been back since) so I’m gonna need to find a job for the autumn so I don’t go bust from driving lessons. Errrrr, during the ridiculously long summer, I practiced guitar a lot, did jobs around the house, waked dog dog (Fergus), met up with friends, went on bike rides, went camping with our caravan (ALMOST caught a nice carp but the darn drag dial was bust), went fishing a lot (caught some tiddlers but still no pike :(((( ).

Oh yeah, I completed my DofE gold practice expedition which was a great adventure, we now have to do the qualifier next year as someone broke his leg in a dirt bike accident so I just hope he doesn’t break it again lol. Ummmmm, went on out ecclesial camping weekend which was nice (I picked up a chicken), I completed a lifeguarding course too which wasn’t too bad it was just a VERY intense week ( I had to tow a guy who was 6’3”and weighed 100kg all under 45 seconds as part of the fitness test) but yeah I passed and I was able to lifeguard on Shirley and Llann camp which was good.

Now, onto the 3 week camp pilgrimage. The Saturday I passed the lifeguarding course I was sent off to UKYC, first time going, and I really enjoyed it. The music was great, the activities and facilities were good and I would go again. It was also really nice to see friends again too, and talk to new ppl, always nice to catch up with people. The food was , well, not the best but cooking for 300 people is difficult so I don’t blame them. I also taught myself to longboard on UKYC too and I had a whale of a time just crusing and going down slopes and stuff with Sim, I also ended up teaching some people how to longboard too which was fun. After UKYC, I went to Shirley Camp at Llangwnaddl which was great. I played in the camp band, hung out with friends, went to the beach, did some cliff jumping, went on a 10k walk (I did it all barefoot) and swam with dolphins (basically). Umm, taught Katie how to play guitar, umm had a big campfire to close on the last day and yeah, great week. But straight onto Llann camp after that, Llann was good, played in the band again, wrote and gave a thought, hung out with friends, did lots of early morning swims, snuck out and stayed up till 2 to watch the Perseid meteor shower (amazing if u don’t mind late nights), went to the headland and sung hymns (I wish I bought my guitar for that), had an epic game of higher or lower (we played double or nothing and lost….), did a hilarious photo competition, went to the beach a lot, did a 20k walk along the coast BAREFOOT and enjoyed that, debated theistic evolution a bit. Did yoyo tricks for campcert concert and played living on a prayer with someone while he played drums, and I witnessed the goat himself (Caleb Gaston) sing Deep Dive which I basically can’t describe because of how raw and glorious it was. I helped out the site owner with some chores and tasks. And ended the week with a lovely evening swim which had a beautiful sunset.

So yeah, that’s that. I’ll probably be working rest of the summer now (oh we also got an air rifle that fires lead pellets and almost took my eye out too) and start college in September but the plan now is to get a Job at Tescos when I’m 18 so I can afford driving lessons, I have my theory test in November, and then save up strictly for a YEAR and a HALF or so so I can get my A2 motorcycle licence and buy myself a nice motorcycle (hopefully by 20-21 at latest).

So yeah, there we go!
